20 Buy-in downswing in 8 hours, how to deal with it?

What really sucks was I played optimal poker for the first 5 hours, and then tilt took control for the next 3 hours.

How can I play optimal poker and lose 20 BUY-INS IN A SINGLE DAY?

Good question.

I’m not going to entertain you with video replays of the BS hands I went through but here’s an idea, all hands are allin hands…

AK vs AQ – He flops the Q
JJ vs 77 – He flops a 7
AA vs AKs – He runner runners flush
A9 vs A2 – He rivers a 2
Heres one of my favourites for the night……
3 way pot, my AK vs QQ vs A5…..
Board….. A J 2 5 5

You can see where this is going.

I know what your already thinking, took some bad beats, get over it and get on with it. I’m not denying that for 1 second. But 8 hours of this repetitive garbage, seriously wtf?

I’m to seasoned to know PokerStars doesn’t “have it in for me” nor am I going to say that’s it’s all rigged.

What I’m pleading for at this stage is just advice, how the hell do you deal with poker when the cards treat you like that over and over and over again?

I know the swings and variance associated with SnGs and accepted that a long time ago. I’ve just never seen a consistently harsh set of outcomes dealt to me

What to do???????

FYI - this is all on $16 9man turbos at PokerStars

Don't stress. If you loose too much in a single session, your bankroll management will pull you back down to a lower buy-in table.

You will recover.

You will never go bankrupt.

Everybody underestimates variance dude it's alot bigger and tougher to get through than we all think.
However thats why we use BRM to go through stages like this, it would be pointless having 30-40 BIs if you were crushing it everyday but we need this cushion for days like this.
Just forget about today and focus on playing correct poker and the results will even out over time, you know they will so dont worry dude.

And I know, even as I was writing it I knew it. But it really sucked. Read a really good article on variance however which I'll be posting soon.

But thanks for reading and the comments, validates my reasoning for continuing to blog.

Hey Nick sorry to hear about this day of hell. I think all part-time and full-time players who play a decent volume hit a skid like this eventually. If you remember I hit mine for a good 5 weeks. I can tell you from my experience nobody will give you any sympathy and some will even tell you it's your own fault.

Those people simply have never been through it and are speaking from ignorance.

I will say sometimes some people overestimate beats/coolers/variance but if you look at your play and analyze it all and come away thinking, "Yes, I made the RIGHT move" then there's nothing more to think about. You've done your job right. There's simply nothing more to dwell on and it's time to move on in life.

Clearly, there's the generic advice that if you are tilted even in the slightest you need to take a step back. Sometimes I need to get the agro out so I play Grand Theft Auto. Sometimes I listen to soothing music. You'll figure it out.

Anyways bud obviously I'll pulling for you and just suggest when you can to go through your hands, make notes, and then learn what you need to in order to move forward and put this episode behind you.

Here are some examples to give you an idea. Warning: this is not exactly 100% because the players have the right to make movies. Just make astute to interpret a tell. Business experience and instinct.
The general attitude: a player who wants to look strong is generally low. And vice versa. Anyone who stands up on his chair, looks you straight in the eye, will intimidate you. It has a small clearance. Same approach if ostensibly the hands of his chips while it is not for him to speak. He wants to help you bet! However, if a good player has collapsed or air seems a little too pointedly ignore the sudden suspicion! He certainly has a mountain!
Face: beware expressions very supported. Generally, it must be interpreted in the opposite of the message they seem to convey.
The look: he who sets you right in the eye wants to convince you to throw your cards. Pay him! However one that hangdog eyes or looking away surely has a strong hand. Down!
The hands tells the most reliable are those concerning players' hands. While it is easy to deal with mining face, as it is difficult to control game of luck . Tremor, a lack of confidence in how to build their chips compared to what you saw earlier in a player, are mostly a sign of poor game at home.
Breathing. If it is fast and jerky, is that the player does not feel comfortable. He's probably bluffing! If breathing is blocked, same thing. Is that he knows that you observe and tries to hide his embarrassment.
Speech. In poker, it is quite permissible to talk during a shot. Talk to your opponent as he seeks himself to talk to you. Tournament, we often see a player ask whoever recovery, how he bet (when he knows it!) ... But it seeks to assess a change in tone or volume. Or in a stifled voice hoarse is mostly a sign of bluff ...

But, I repeat, we are here on a very moving. On which we can not give absolute rule. Everything depends on the level of the player that you have in front of you, his temperament, bonus for new player ... and yours. A novice will interpret the first degree. A good player in the second degree, that is to say he will try to be more vicious. As the champion, it is better to give up reading it! ...

As for you, well, you must be careful with your gestures, your facial expressions, your words, etc ... If you do not want your opponents to read you like an open book! It is best to remain impassive in every circumstance. If you succeed, congratulations!

The bluff in Holdem Poker, it requires psychology and also many technical

If there is a word synonymous with poker, a word that everyone knows even without having ever played poker, this is the one .... Well, simply because before talk really, it was that you knew the technique of the game because the bluff called on all poker concepts: technology, strategy and psychology. When we talk about psychology is yours and that of others. The image you get from them and that they are of you!

To bluff, we must begin with its familiar lines. And then you have other qualities, such as courage and instinct. And you must know that all positions, all technical configurations do not lend themselves to bluff. Especially when you play against good players. When you started, it is better not bluff very rarely. This does not prevent you from winning, quite the contrary. Moreover, even the champions do not bluff on every shot! This is essentially the practice of poker experience, knowledge of the game and players, you will learn when and how to bluff Party free bonus .

It is in any case that it is impossible to give a recipe for the bluff. It would be just a bluff
